Metaverse: Best practises for your mind and body.

I was witnessing a 3-day conference in the so called “Metaverse” the Immersive-X. Metaverse? So, where you wear VR-glasses, stick together with other people from all over the world. Listen to talks and discuss. All in virtual spaces. With goggles on. In your living room. You… you mean this metaverse?

Yes, and it was an amazing experience!

Picture from one of our sessions. I am the marked avatar. Picture made by Astral Druid (https://bsky.app/profile/astraldruid.bsky.social).

This kind of experiences can be very intense - mentally, visually and also for the body.

Here I collect some ideas, what I would view as a first idea of having “best practises” when it comes to deal with metaverse experiences.

First. The diet!

  • Chew candy with sugar (Nimm 2 Lach-Gummi, mit Vitamine, oder so…)
  • Eggs
  • Noodles
  • The Kohlenhydrate
  • Strong coffee
  • Noch mehr Kohlenhydrate!

Other useful things to do:

  • A good rhythm to survive sessions over a longer period of time seems to be: 30 min talk, 15 minute discussion, 15 min break IN THE REAL WORLD.
  • Make small exercises for your body after each session. Dance, Sing, bring the garbage down. To get your body the chance to get par of your mind. Or the other way round?? Who knows.
  • Listen to music between sessions.
  • Have a straw (Strohhalm) / Hipster-Cup / Schnabeltasse for drinks available at your place. Helpful in VR. Especially in your hands. At talks.
  • And a chair, that can rotate (like a gaming chair!).
  • A recharged powerbank for your headset. (Can support best last chats!)
  • Always have a (bottled) can of tea ready for the (sometimes too) short breaks.
  • It might be a good idea to meet some friends or have people around (or on the phone) to talk about and share the experiences you made. And not just sit alone at home.

Feel free to add your own observations to the comments!
